Samson

It was like any other day of the year
We were walking out of an art class when you appeared
And momma picked you right up and we took you back home
And we gave you love and gave you the freedom to roam

Time went on and you grew up playing with us
And when we all went off to school, you'd wait by the bus
Then in the afternoons, you'd lay in the sun
And you'd welcome us home and skip to the road as you'd run

I never expected the day to find out the news
When I called up mom and I asked her what happened to you
She said that you'd been lying out on the street
When the car came around in a flash and put you to sleep

When I run to the end of the drive
I can still see the look in your eyes
And I promise you that
Is something I'll never forget, as long as I live
Samson
