Last Day of School Year 2012

Thank you Lord for another incredible year at St. Mary's. As I look back on my last three years there, I feel like I have been there much longer. I have really come to love the place and the people there so much. I feel like I have grown a ton as a teacher since my first year, and I have learned a ton about myself and how I operate as an adult. It's very different being on the other side of the classroom. I love the challenge of teaching and striving to be the best teacher I can be.

I finish up my Masters of Education at the University of Tampa this summer! Speaking of challenges, that has definitely been one for me this year. Night classes twice a week from 6-9 pm just about did me in a few times. I give you the credit God for giving me the strength and energy to get through those classes. I never thought I would go back to school after I completed my undergrad at Furman, but God I guess you had different plans for me. Thank you for using St. Mary's to give me this opportunity.

The 8th graders have their commencement ceremony tonight. I am definitely going to miss this class a lot. I am praying about how to continue a Bible study with them next year as they go into their first year of high school. Jesus, I pray that you will shine through them so that they can be light wherever they go. Remind them that you are the one who gives life to the full, and I pray that they will discover who they are as Christians and who they are as men. Continue to use me to help point them to you.

I'm about to go to our last faculty meetings of the school year. Thank you so much Lord for my role in this school and the health you have given me to do this job. Without you I am nothing.

Last Day of 6th Grade Math Class 2012

I always dismiss every math class with my 6th graders by yelling "Are you a mathematician?", and they scream back "We are!!!" This video captures the last one of the year.

Concert Band Final Performance 2012

This was our final performance for concert band this year. On the instruments, we played "When the Saints Go Marching In", "Harry Potter", "Viva La Vida", "Amazing Grace", and "Auld Lang Syne". On the drums, we played "Are You Ready/Go Saints!", "Two Tenors", "Say Can I Get A One Two", "French Fries and Coke", "Haitian Hustle", "LeRoy", "Fight Til You Win", and "Drumbeats 8". This video is just a small sample of the concert. I am very proud of how far the concert band and drumline have both come in just a year and a half!

Last Bible Study

This was our last Bible study of the year with the 8th grade guys. It was a great way to finish off the year with an all out water war!

Pythagorean Theorem

I taught my math class the Pythagorean Theorem last week, and they made these posters to show how it is derived. I thought this was a pretty cool idea! Who says math can't be fun?

Fine Arts Night 2012

The drumline performed at the Fine Arts Show last Friday. They played "Drumbeats 8", "Fight Til You Win", and "LeRoy"! Here is a sample of each song.

Horeshoes

These are my horseshoes hanging on my barn. I love that they say Franklin on them because that is where I grew up playing horseshoes at Coach Gentry's farm. I guess I just get nostalgic sometimes thinking about those days :)
